Drive Safe this Easter

Easter is coming up this weekend and for many Australians, it’s the best opportunity to head out of town for a long weekend driving holiday with friends and family.

But with so much extra traffic on the road, it’s crucial that you plan ahead to ensure your safety on the road. By planning in advance, you can minimise stress and ensure you and your family and friends’ safety wherever you are going.

To help you out, here’s Andatech top 5 tips for staying safe on the roads this Easter break:

1. Plan your route ahead of time

The shortest route may not always be the quickest, and delaying your departure can mean you miss the worst of the holiday rush.

2. Check your car is well maintained and ready to go

Check your fluid levels, tyre pressures, windscreens, mirrors, and indicator lights are all functioning and without problems. And of course, fill up your petrol tank! It’s a good idea to drop into automotive stores like Autobarn or Repco to do a quick check up of your vehicle before a long drive.

3. Prepare snacks, water, games and toys (for kids), and other necessities

Don’t forget your in-car charger for your phones, tablets, GPS systems, and your AlcoSense personal breathalyser for checking that you’re below the legal limit if you plan to enjoy some alcohol on your trip. Remember that alcohol affects everybody differently, and you never know what your BAC might be the morning after a night of drinking.

When you’re stuck in a car for hours at a time, it may get stuffy and uncomfortable inside. For those with sensitive noses or allergies, why not invest in a simple car air purifier to clean and purify the air in your car? Make sure it has HEPA and Carbon filters to clean the air of dust and allergens, and get rid of odours; and negative ions to refresh the air.

4. Drive safe!

Don’t speed, keep a safe following distance, and drive slower in wet conditions. If driving very long distances, take breaks every 2 hours, and share the driving with others in your car.

Driver distraction is a big killer on the road, so make sure that your passengers know not to distract you while driving.

5. Enjoy yourselves!

Have a fun and exciting trip, and while staying safe, remember to enjoy yourselves this Easter long weekend. If drinking alcohol, remember to drink in moderation, and to never drive drunk.

Whatever you have planned, we at Andatech would like to wish you and your family a Happy Easter and safe driving.
